2007 has been a very fun year. I haven't submitted any news updates in a while because, well, how relevant is it really to hear some DJ go on about playing this city and that city and it being a lot of fun etc. That said, I had some great times playing shows in many different cities and met a lot of cool people along the way including some rock solid supporters. Shambhala Music Festival was once again amazing this year. I entered into the weekend a bit exhausted and just coming back from a week of complete hearing loss in one ear from a badly timed ear infection plus some other gear related issues which were a nuisance. It's pretty hard to take away from the amazing experience of the weekend there though. I opened my set Friday night on main stage with a 4 minute live mixed intro based on the opening 3 min intro of AC/DC Thunderstruck with thundering beats in the background and it was an unforgettable moment. My bro DJ Chase also played Saturday on main stage there and rocked one of the best sets I heard all weekend. Moving on. NYE was a fun one this year. I played a 12-3am slot in my hometown of Vancouver for a change and the venue was rammed with some great friends in attendance, an important ingredient for NYE. To whoever the gorgeous blonde was who came up to me during my set and kissed me, thanks for that! As for 2008, well it's time to seriously get down to business on the production end of things. It's also my 13th year headlining shows and time to turn things up a notch. Next up, I'm on my way out to play Edmonton & Calgary on Friday Jan 11 & Sat Jan 12 and looking forward to giving it a good hammering, heavy on the electro bangers! Happy new year to everyone & thanks for all the love & support. May you all kill it well this year! -N |

Due to the overwhelming response & support after playing what was regarded as top set of the weekend on main stage at last year's Shambhala Music Festival, Nemesis has been asked back to headline main stage Friday night from 2-4am this year! This year will be the big 10 year celebration for the festival and it's expected to be a show like no other. Shambhala Music Festival is without doubt the largest & best of it's kind and most sought after DJ booking in Canada. Huge thanks goes out to all who supported to make this happen! |

In the middle of this amazing weekend, Nemesis took to the main stage on Saturday night at 4am to deliver what's since been regarded as the best set of the weekend on main stage! The show featured over 30 headliners on 6 stages traveling from the UK, Germany, Israel, USA & Canada held at it's homeland: the Salmo River Ranch. Friday January 27th marked 10 years since the first show Nemesis ever played back in January 1996 and there was no better place to be on that night than back to the people and place that's remained an all-time favorite destination of his through 7 years and 3 CD releases there. In the tradition of things, it was another amazing night there and everything was perfectly in place. The night was opened by Victoria's own talented DJ Joshua who built things up very nicely with some quality progressive house. Nemesis then took to the decks for a 3 hr set of house, prog, electro & breaks that shook the place to the ground with the help of Hush's near flawless sound system and a very enthusiastic crowd! A few hilights of the night were Junkie XL's remix of Coldplay-Talk, Jacques Lu Cont's Depeche Mode remix, as well as finishing off the night with a few classic Nemesis tunes including Ambassador-The fade, Tilt-Invisible, and Push's remix of Madagascar. Hello! As you may have noticed by now, due to a busy last few months the schedule for my Alpha Sessions radio show quickly turned from bi-weekly to bi-monthly! Part of this is also due to working out details for airing the show on more stations to reach the largest amount of listeners currently possible with the show. In the meantime, there are definitely some new developments. Over the last 9 years I have always maintained a reputation for resorting to more than one or two styles or sounds to express myself and build my sets. A lot of it comes down to how much I'm currently liking the new productions being released in each genre. My direction always remains the same though, which is basically to play the best music I can find and always keep it fresh and true to what I love. Considering how much I enjoy and appreciate different styles it's not much a surprise when they find their way into my sets. I have been more impressed this last 6 months with the quality of productions in breaks and progressive house than I have been in a long time, and as a result my sets are currently reflecting that a lot and will for some time I think. There are some amazingly talented and innovative producers at large lately and it's a pleasure to see, while so many out there are just looking to follow a formula or follow what a hundred other forgettable tracks have done. On the other side of the coin, I've been fairly unimpressed with the general quality of trance releases the last while. Definitely not all releases, since there are still a few who are putting out top quality tracks, but just too much coming out that's either boring or just alright sounding. With all that there is to listen to nowadays, why listen to or play half assed tracks? Bring on with the genre whoring! -N |
